Academics
Students take courses at the University of Melbourne alongside Australian and international students.

Pomona requires participants to take one course focusing on Australia, which might be in areas such as film, history, literature, sociology, politics, or other subjects. IFSA also offers students excursions and activities to expand their understanding of Australian culture.

University of Melbourne uses a point system to allocate course credit where 12.5 points are equivalent to 4 U.S. semester credits (1.0 Pomona credit) and 50 points are equal to 16 U.S. semester credits (4.0 Pomona credits).

Housing
Students live either in a self-catered apartment at Student Village Melbourne where students share a four-bedroom (single rooms), two-bathroom apartment with IFSA and/or international students, or in on-campus residential colleges. Please note that spaces in residential colleges are extremely competitive and placements are made by the college rather than IFSA. Students who are not placed in a residential college will automatically be placed in the Student Village.

Students who are placed in the Student Village will receive a full meal allowance from Pomona to prepare their own meals.

Students who are placed in a residential college
should note that these housing options incur a supplemental fee that includes a mandatory meal planPomona will only cover the supplemental housing fee for International House and Janet Clarke Hall (not for University College). Students living in a residential college will receive a meal allowance for the meals that are not already provided by the residential college, depending on the catering option selected. Students living in Janet Clarke Hall or International Hall with full catering will not receive a meal allowance as they will already have full catering provided by their hall. Students living in International House with either minimum or medium catering will receive a meal allowance for either one meal per day (medium catering) or two meals per day (minimum catering).
